Geography
The capital of Magdalena, Santa Marta is located on the Bay of Santa Marta in the Caribbean sea. It’s 992 kilometers from Bogota and 93 kilometers from Barranquilla. It’s surrounded by sea to its north and west. Aracataca, birthplace of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Cienaga, the place of the horrific banana massacre, are the nearest municipalities to its south.
